An Indian man was in critical condition after he was attacked by a shark off the coast of Kerala on Wednesday, a police official said.
He was rushed to the nearby state hospital, the police officer said.
The man, who was identified as Gajendra, was admitted after suffering a stroke, the official said, adding that he has been admitted to the hospital.
The attack occurred at about 7 p.m. local time (7 p.mm.) near the village of Rajagopalam in the Ernakulam district.
“He was in an unresponsive state and was brought to the local hospital where he was declared dead,” said a police officer.
The shark, believed to be a 30-footer, attacked the man from the side of the road in the water and dragged him back to shore, the officer said, citing the local police.
The official said that a police team of 10 officers were deployed to search the area and that the shark was also captured on video.
